biore uv aqua rich watery gel cool

when in japan, you can't not buy any sunscreen. they put it in display so obvious that you want to grab one just to try. and there's this rave from many bloggers for biore uv aqua rich watery essence and gel. so when i went to japan, i decided to grab the essence (hubby only managed to grab the gel one when he went to japan before i did) and the cool version of the gel one. it's logical to market the cool version since it was summer when i went there.

this is the description from ratzillacosme: it's a limited edition japanese sunscreen gel that instantly cools down skin. only available for a limited time, the daily use sunscreen gel gives a refreshingly cool sensation to help relieve summer heat. it has the same weightless, water-gel texture and fresh finish as the regular version that leaves the skin feeling comfortable with a sticky or tight sensation. it features protection-enriched water capsules with added "light correction powder" that enable the sunscreen to turn into water when applied while giving the skin a light-diffusing effect. a blend of hyaluronic acid, royal jelly and mix citrus essence helps the skin retain moisture and softness.

the packaging: it comes in a cardboard backing and plastic cover just like the original version. at the back of the cardboard there's a description, but like always, it is in japanese. so i can't read any of it.

the scent: the original one has lemon-y scent, but i think this one smells a little more alcoholic lemon. if you get what i mean.

the product: just like the original, it looks like an ivory white lotion type sunscreen. a little bit runny in consistency. which makes it spreads easily and be absorbed easily too. if i look at it closely, i can see a bit glittering part in it. which probably the cause of glowing skin after using this sunscreen. there's no difference in texture and consistency with the original version.

the result: when they say cooling, it really is cooling. i think i like japanese "cooling" products better. i have experience with cooling products before. and i can say that the cooling effect from korean product only lasts for a minute or two, and it was too cold to be "cool". and afterward i can feel burning hot sensation as counter-effect for the cooling sensation. but with this sunscreen, i can feel it really cool. the sensation doesn't come instantly. after a few seconds applying it, i start to feel the cooling sensation and it last about a minute or two. and then i don't feel the burning hot counter-effect which i hate. as for the protection property, let me tell you, this one only works for daily sunscreen. probably better if you spend most of your time indoor and only a minute or two outside. i use this on my recent trip to hong kong, and although it's cloudy most of the time, i got sunburn. a mild sunburn. really.

overall, i like both the original version and the cooling one, although i don't quite like the scent. i prefer the original lemon scent from the original version. and i think once i spend more time outdoor, i will need stronger sunscreen than this one. if you stay indoor mostly and like the original version, then try this one. it doesn't hurt trying the cooling one. but if you spend most of your day outside, then try something else.
