my beauty diary imperial bird's nest mask

when i was in japan, i grab at almost every mask that i encounter, especially the ones that i can't get my hands on here in indonesia. or i couldn't find it with decent price from local online shops. one of them is my beauty diary. i was planning to get every variants available, but unfortunately, there are only two variants, this one and the hyaluronic acid one. so i grabbed them both. when i went home, i found out from fiddy website that there's a different MBD according to the year of production. i didn't know which one is mine, but after reading her review, i'm pretty sure mine is the 2015 version.

this is the description from guardian website: ultra nourishing contains amino acids, collagen, and polysaccharides extracted from the finest imperial bird's nests to deliver intense nourishment into deper layers of the skin and alleviate dryness. it is also enriched with herbal extracts including oat, brown algae, and acer saccharum marsh, as well as the double-acting hydrating ingredients cosphingo x aquaroute to regulate skin texture, giving you a nourished and flawless complexion.

the packaging: i get the 5 masks in a box one. so the box is red, made of cardboard. and the masks are individually packaged in similar designed sachet. it's smaller compared to my usual mask sheet sachet. there's description at the back, but since i bought it in japan, everything is in japanese.

the scent: okay, i honestly forget to take note about the scent. the last time i use this mask i have stuffy nose, so i can breathe well. if this mask has scent, it's subtle and not annoying.

the product: i think from fiddy's review, she mentioned that the 2015 version is made of silk. it's very thin and has plastic backing since it's very flimsy. the essence is clear and very generous. there's some left in the packet. it's slightly more viscous than water, so when i try to soak my tablet mask in it, i have difficulty to make the mask absorbs all the remaining essence. it adheres well. talking about the fit, it has narrow eyes and lip holes, slightly short chin. it doesn't even cover my jaw, so this is considerably smaller than my usual mask. but it's forgivable since it's very comfortable to use.

the result: at first the essence is seeping down to my chin. although i don't like it, but it only lasts for a few minutes. i can put it on for about an hour and don't feel uncomfortable. i think i use it for about 40-50 minutes, and it's still wet, but duty calls (read: baby is awake) so i take it off. and afterward i can feel that my skin is well-hydrated. it give the moisture it need. after that i put on only my AIO and then go to sleep. the next morning my skin is plump and slightly greasy.

overall, this is my first try on any MBD masks, and if anything else is as good as this one, then i want to try them all. or at least anything that i can get my hands into. i think this is suitable for every skin types. on your dry days, when your skin needs hydration boost. i think it will be too much for combination or oily skin to be used daily, but for dry skin, you might want to keep one of this around.
