k-palette lasting 3 way eyebrow pencil in #3 mocha brown

when i was in japan, i knew that i wanted to try as many eye makeup products as i can, minus the eyeshadow though. the eyeshadow are not my style, they're too glittery for my taste. now the eyeliner and eyebrow products though.. they are good, so naturally i want to try them all. but i have limited time and also only two eyes and two eyebrows, so i have to limit myself not to grab everything. since i've tried k palette eyeliner, i was curious about their 2 way and 3 way eyebrow product. i grabbed them both without knowing the exact shades! ahhaha.. luckily it isn't weird though. i've just finished my excel eyebrow pencil, so i decided to try another 3 in 1 eyebrow pencil to make comparison between them.

this is the description from yesstyle website: it's a three-function eyebrow of pencil + powder + brush that keeps beautiful, 24 hours with a sense of tattoo. even though fluffy soft coloration, high durability is realized by the effect adhesion oil and coating agent. finish up the whole eyebrow from the eyebrow. waterproof resistant to water, sweat, and sebum.

the packaging: it comes in plastic box. in the front, they put little pictorial step-by-step instruction about how to use the product. at the back, there's description but everything is in japanese. the shade number and shade name are in front of the box too, but again, everything is in japanese and there's no color code either, so i have to google it without knowing how it will be on me. they do provide samples but unfortunately, not for every shade, so i have to guess. for me, the box is too big for a pencil, just like the eyeliner, the box is too big for my liking. the excel one seems more efficient. and easy on my baggage as well since it doesn't eat up much space in my luggage.

the product: the design is similar to excel. it has two sides, the pencil on one end, and the spoolie brush is on the other end. the powder sponge is hidden in the shaft. there's the text to indicate which side is the pencil and the spoolie and the powder's place in the shaft. the difference is the cap. for excel, both cap on both ends are transparent, so you can see which is which. while for k-palette the spoolie end has transparent cap, while the pencil has an opaque cap. you can't see the pencil end from outside. the spoolie brush is smaller than excel but a bit fluffier than face shop. the powder sponge gives more opaque shadow than excel. perhaps because this one is darker shade than my excel one. but still, i can only see dark brown powder. the pencil is tiny, it has round shape, just like ordinary pencil. i don't like the shape though. i like oval end of excel better. somehow i feel that this round tip is smaller to draw my eyebrow. but the pencil is still creamy. although excel is creamier, but on the downside, it finishes quicker. again, i can only see dark brown shade. nothing indicates mocha whatsoever. but it's not as dark as my face shop, so i can still make it work. (fyi, i colored my hair a few months back and it starts to grow. i have darker root but the rest of my hair is still light).

the result: the pencil can draw thin lines thanks to its shape, but to draw numerous hair takes more time since it's tiny. i like my excel better since i can draw my brows faster. the spoolie works just fine. the brush is soft enough to soften the brows without irritating the skin underneath. the sponge though.. i'm still learning to use it to soften and fill my eyebrow. since it's pretty dark shades, sometimes when i use it on top of the pencil, it darkens my brows even further. but if i only outline my brows with the pencil and then fill it with the powder, it's not enough. i still have to fill the gaps with pencil. so i'm still learning how to deal with this one.

lately i've been busy and didn't have enough time to draw my eyebrow everyday (luckily my eyebrows are pretty thick naturally) so i haven't tested the waterproof and sweatproof claim, but it does hold well. if i have time to do my eyebrows, it will stay for about 4-5 hours, which is enough for me. i think it's pretty decent. it's beginner friendly too. as for the shades, you can't trust their name, you have to swatch them yourself. the shade range is pretty limited too, unlike excel which has numerous shades. personally, i like excel better. the shape of the pencil and the spoolie brush.. i like them both better. so perhaps i won't repurchase this although this one is slightly cheaper than excel. but again, it's just a matter of preference. have you tried this eyebrow pencil? how do you like it?
